The Bible reiterates that work is God’s idea. Therefore, people should work diligently to fulfil God’s plan. However, individuals that commit themselves to working must uncover satisfaction and spiritual benefits. People’s attempt to circumvent the Lord’s order only reveals their inability to perceive the palpable. Often, the highly skilled workers get a chance to showcase their God-given talents to the public. In the case of work, no man can pay enough for an ideal wife who executes her tasks such that the public recognizes her competency.

For centuries, discussions have arisen regarding Christianity and work (Richardson 14). While the Bible bears succinct instructions on this issue, the majority of believers neglect the biblical views by adopting the wrong worldly approach. When the Bible says that all able-bodied persons must work, it implies that human beings should bless those in need. In addition, they should take care of their families the way God looks after us. If a section of the population cannot work because of social crisis or infirmity, they church has a moral responsibility to help.

Most of the Old Testament scriptures on work focus on those that refuse to work. God command Christians to rebuke them in so that they can mend their ways albeit in shame. Most importantly, all human labour is unto their creator. Therefore, when people work, God blesses them because it is His will. Still, anyone refusing to work and awaits God’s blessings is committing a sin. What Christians need to do is to be faithful and patient for their creator to provide at when time is due.

Working as a Christian Student 

            As a student, I work hard to pass my exams. I understand that God bless those who work hard while trusting in Him. At times, it is not easy to honour my promises as a Christian. However, when I recall about the importance of faithfulness in this word, I am motivated to assist others as I wait patiently for His blessings. I derive my strength as a person from attaining my goals.

When I am at home, I help my parents and siblings as the Bible commands. God’s word gives me the wisdom to decide what to do and what to refrain from. In this way, my path to righteousness becomes clear, even though there are numerous temptations along the way. The generosity of my work takes me a step closer to personal fulfilment and happiness. As a diligent worker and a devout Christian, I make sure that my labour is not in vain but profitable both spiritually and to the church.

At the beginning of this week’s study, I was ill-informed on the benefits that humans get by waiting on God’s promises. Specifically, the scriptures on the need to plan for the longer term as a diligent worker changed my perspective on my work. Some of the aspects of biblical understanding o work that I am already practicing include wisdom, helping others, honesty, and trustworthiness.
